Program Notes

     Transit of Venus was written for Spectrum Music’s 2015 concert Tracing One Warm Line, featuring the folk ensemble Ozere. Inspiration for the piece was taken from Captain James Cook’s 1769 journey around the world to observe the Transit of Venus from the island of Tahiti. The piece has opportunities for improvisation in all of the parts.
