Program Notes

     Night Vision is inspired by one of my earliest childhood memories: moving with my family from Canada to the United States at the age of three. Everything in my new world seemed larger than life, from the house and the yard to the towering trees. The woods behind our home, the basement, and the closets all felt mysterious and intimidating, and I worried that my favourite toys had been left behind. At the same time, I was filled with the excitement of exploring unfamiliar surroundings. The text reflects these simultaneous feelings of fear and wonder.
