Mid-February explores the quiet nostalgia that can accompany the depths of winter. Inspired by the expansive soundscapes of the Icelandic band Sigur Rós, the piece is built on a repeating diatonic chord progression that gradually gathers momentum, culminating in a soaring clarinet solo. The electric guitar part makes extensive use of rhythmic delay and looping to create a rich, layered texture.
